MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Basyang has affected more than 400,000 people and forced tens of thousands into evacuation centers, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said. In its 8 a.m. report on Sunday, February 8, the NDRRMC said that there are 467,242 persons or 131,961 families that are affected by Basyang. Out of all the affected individuals, 16,297 persons are inside the evacuation centers, while 25,822 are outside the evacuation centers. There were also 306 classes suspended, while there are 113 cities/municipalities where work was suspended in Region 6, Negros Island Region, Region 7 and CARAGA.
