Test Delhi groundwater, demand greens, after CPCB report on Bandhwari contamination

"After the shocking findings, as reveled in the CPCB report, it becomes all the more imperative to test groundwater of areas falling in Delhi. "The groundwater of Mangar village, which lies about 4km away from Bandhwari (as the crow flies), has been found to be affected. There is a need for CPCB, CGWA and state pollution control boards to look into groundwater contamination caused by landfills. "According to a 2008 Central Ground Water Board report, groundwater from Bandhwari flows outwards in all directions, which is why it's a major recharge zone for all of Delhi and NCR. The aquifers of the whole region are inter-connected, so contamination of groundwater in Bandhwari would ultimately lead to contamination of groundwater of the entire region.
