ANGOLA, April 11 - Luanda -The Supreme Court is to give next Tuesday (April 16) the final verdict on the defendants involved in the case dubbed "Thai Swindle", in which 10 individuals, Angolan and foreign, have been implicated. ,This was announced last Wednesday by the trial judge after introducing the Interrogatories that will be responded in next Tuesday’s session, preceding final deliberation and verdict. They are all accused by the Public Ministry (Prosecution Department) of having committed crimes of forgery of documents, fraud, criminal association and money laundering. The scam was revealed in 2017 when alleged Thai investors, with alleged complicity of national citizens, attempted to swindle the Angolan State of USD 50 billion. At the time, the Supreme Court decided to apply the coercive measure Remand Custody to eight defendants of this case, which includes four Thai citizens, equal number of Angolans, one Canadian and one Ethiopian.
