Yet no one else in that conversation, including the Secretary of Education himself, had ever taught in an American public school building. A top-tier presidential candidate listened to a public school teacher (like, actually someone who has spent years teaching children in an American public school classroom) and released a policy based on that teacher’s ideas. I ran for major office to fight for my students who still attend that same public school where I taught. Bernie Sanders’ education plan is far from perfect. I’ll just be glad that at least a presidential candidate is listening to an American public school teacher for once.
