But starting and scaling a platform business is not for the impatient or faint of heart. That said, platform revenue projections and other financials may not look terribly compelling in the early stages of the business, which can be an especially challenging hurdle to overcome when pitching the story to investors. This is incredibly important for healthcare platforms, where there is no shortage of market complexities, types of constituents, and competing interests at play. Don’t underestimate the importance of investors who “get it” : Not every health tech investor is an expert in or even understands platform business concepts.
