The only country on the European continent to still apply the death penalty is the former Soviet republic of Belarus, a staunch ally of Russia. However, there are many countries around the world, including the US, India and Indonesia that still regularly carry out the death penalty for serious crimes. It is the horrific fate that these two British women are facing this Christmas.
