Morris: As Christa said, federal policy has already made a change; it is state policy that needs to evolve. There is a knowledge gap for many policymakers, educators, and parents when it comes to performance assessments and the research surrounding them. As of 2018, in research conducted by the Learning Policy Institute, 17 states have policy that supports performance assessments. We have also proven reliability through norming calibrations led by Stanford’s Center for Assessment, Learning, and Equity and Envision Learning Partners.
