The jobs report is a monthly tally compiling a set of surveys in an attempt to monitor the labor market, summarizing total payroll employment in the United States by surveying U.S. businesses and households. Although gay and lesbian married couples were included for the first time this month, the jobs report never includes employment related to farming. As Forbes.com’s Sergei Klebnikov reported, this month’s report contained good news: the U.S. jobs market grew at a better-than-expected rate in January, thanks to unseasonably warm weather. As CNN reported, it should be noted that including same-sex couples did not impact those top-line jobs report numbers, but only those categories in the underlying statistical tables.
