It all sounds far fetched, but it all started thanks to a news story about a man and a sinkhole. A Florida man, Jeff Bush, fell into a sinkhole that opened up beneath his bedroom in 2013. "I ran toward my brother's bedroom because I heard my brother scream," Jeremy Bush, Jeff's brother said at the time. While The Hole in the Ground takes a different turn on events, the story of Jeff Bush's death kick started Cronin's movie idea. As is often the case the true story that started it all off was actually far more tragic.
