For more than a year, New York Giants fans have been haunted by the paranoid idea that the team might trade star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. It seemed like an absurd notion. Why would they even entertain the notion of trading their singularly talented playmaker—arguably the best in franchise history and still only 26 years old—as he enters his prime? Yet murmurs that it could happen never dissipated, even after the team gave Beckham a rich contract extension last season.
