The point of this article is to bring attention to the discriminatory behaviors many AI systems, and their creators, have and how if not fixed it will negatively affect society as a whole, especially minorities. Hearing more from Buolamwini in O’Neil’s article really strengthened my understanding of the biased behaviors of tech advancements such as facial recognition. As we previously discussed a technovaunist is a person who believes that tech is more efficient at completing tasks than humans. Being able to view these situations from the mindsets of the very group these harmful behaviors are affecting allows me to widen my understanding of digital studies and its effects on the structure of our society. To further expand my knowledge on harmful behaviors of AI I took to researching some info on my own and found this Forbes article that talks about additional ways Generative AI systems can cause problems.
