(CNN) The grieving father of a 5-year-old boy killed in North Carolina said the suspect has lived next door for eight years and he shared dinner with him a day before the shooting. His father, Austin Hinnant, was inside the house when he heard the shot go off, he told CNN affiliate WRAL. "I screamed, 'Somebody, please help me save my son! At the time, the suspect -- his neighbor, Darius Sessoms -- was in the yard next door with a gun in hand, pacing and frantic, Hinnant said. He described being filled with rage as he looked at the suspect -- but he could not leave Cannon's side.
