It was 50 years ago today that Paul Henderson scored the winning goal for Team Canada in the final game of the Summit Series against the Soviet Union. I’ve been watching some coverage on CBC News Network this morning, in which Canadians recounted where they were when Henderson scored. The 50th anniversary of it has me thinking about where I was as Henderson scored, and some other personal sporting moments related to that time, so long ago, yet still so fresh. We rose as one when Henderson scored. Somehow its publication, the time I spent with Murphy, and that magical game 50 years ago today when Henderson scored that goal, connect and merge for me.
