Lie detectors are often essential tools for we seekers after truth and justice when it comes to by-elections and politicians. For those who win them they are positive signals that life is great and that happy days are here again. However, Thursday’s outcome in Rutherglen and West Hamilton might well change things. There is no longer any appetite for independence and certainly not with this SNP government in charge and so, given all their other failings, why wouldn’t the good people of Rutherglen and West Hamilton use this chance to get rid of them. It really is time for some cross-party unity to ensure that the Nats are shown the door once and for all.
