"If I run out of money before I find the right job, I'll take a survival job but I won't let it define me. The other way to job-hunt is to believe that employers are mighty and you are small and insignificant. They don't say "If I take a survival job, I'll keep it until I get a career-type job." One day you'll get sick of beating your head against the wall by completing online job applications, and you'll say "I'm not doing that anymore." Another day you'll say "While I'm job-hunting, I might as well meet some new people" and you'll go to a networking event.
