Indian inflation has remained in a tight range for more than a year now. The fact that there has been a good monsoon this year after two successive droughts has raised hopes that food prices should moderate soon. Indian consumer price inflation has been sticky even if the effects of more volatile items in the consumption basket such as food and fuel are stripped away. Wholesale price inflation too has left the deflation zone. India has been an outlier among emerging market peers since 2006 in terms of its inflation trajectory.
