The ex-Red Devils boss suggested Courtois and his father had sold team news to French journalists during Euro 2016. He tweeted "Following the statements made by Mr Wilmots, my father and I have decided to bring a criminal complaint together," before posting the following. It came back to me from several French journalists that Courtois' father was doing it.'" Wilmots has since suggested Courtois doesn't 'respect his homeland'.
