Some matatu owners spend like 4000 per week on those merry-go rounds which matatu owners contribute but get no return in the end. To stem this bribery, let matatu owners who have only one matatu or two and they are in saccos,leave the Sacco’s to run the business for them on their behalf. In Nairobi, Eldoret and kitale there are strong matatu Saccos which have good clean vehicles and disciplined drivers and some do not have conductors on long journeys. But these matatus which are individually owned are not up to standards unlike the ones owned by Saccos, promoting frequent stoppages. This bribery reflects the kind of vehicles plying Kenyan roads.
