Historically, Songkran is a time where millions of Thais leave the capital for the provinces, beaches and maybe a hiking trip up North. This year, rising fuel prices will hit not just long-haul travel, but also to some extent, domestic trips. Currently, it's hard to model a "Good Life" without factoring in very real concerns about rising fuel prices, electricity costs, higher costs of living and supply chain disruptions. With all this surrounding us, planning to enjoy a week of Songkran feels slightly different. This means it will be expensive to Netflix and chill at home, but perhaps we need to compare that with rising fuel costs.
