Thomas dissents from Supreme Court decision not to review California gun law

The Supreme Court on Tuesday turned down a request from gun rights activists to examine California’s 10-day waiting period for firearm sales. It also illustrates the court’s reluctance to engage in challenges to restrictions on gun ownership and use, many of which have been upheld by lower courts without Supreme Court review. With limited exceptions, California requires a 10-day waiting period for the purchase of any firearm. That is not the kind of rigorous examination required of laws restricting an enumerated constitutional right, Thomas wrote. “And we have not clarified the standard for assessing Second Amendment claims for almost 10.”The case is Silvester v. Becerra.
