Three Kenyans charged afresh after acquittal over Kampala bombings

Three Kenyans acquitted of terrorism charges for their role in the 2010 Kampala blasts were charged afresh on Wednesday. Trial judge Alphonse Owiny-Dollo acquitted Muhammad Hamid, Suleiman Mbuthia and Omar Awadh Omar last Thursday, citing lack of evidence. Also charged afresh were two Ugandans Abubaker Batemyeto and Ismail Kalule. Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed said on Monday that Kenya is holding talks with Uganda to repatriate suspected Kenyan criminals. Rights groups have termed the suspects' renditioning as illegal.
