According to the charge sheets, Mohd Sofian was accused of discarding a cigarette butt at the southbound Rest and Service Area (R&R) in Kulai at about 4.40pm on Jan 27. Bharat was found to have discarded a cigarette butt at Taman Bintang Utama in Kulai at about 12.15pm on Jan 1. All three were charged under Section 77A(1) of the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 (Act 672), which carries penalties under Section 77A(2), along with the possibility of a community service order under Section 77B(1) of the same Act. The court fined Mohd Sofian RM800 and ordered him to perform six hours of community service. Sinha and Bharat were each fined RM1,000, with Sinha ordered to complete four hours of community service and Bharat six hours, within six months.
