Three top energy chiefs arrested in substandard fuel probe

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested three senior government officials. They include Petroleum Principal Secretary Liban Mohamed, Kenya Pipeline Company Managing Director Joe Sang, and Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) CEO Daniel Kiptoo, who were arrested on Thursday evening over the alleged importation of substandard fuel. The identity of the fourth individual arrested in connection with the saga was later revealed to be Joseph Wafula Wepukhulu, the Deputy Director of Petroleum Economic Analysis. They were arrested by detectives from DCI’s Operations Support Unit and were briefly held at Gigiri, Lang'ata and Capitol Hill Police Stations.
