The funding round would give Didi a valuation of roughly $50 billion; Uber is the only startup in the world with a higher valuation, estimated to be around $60 billion. Didi is currently in the process of completing its acquisition of Uber’s business in China. Samsung earned $8.8 billion operating profit on sales of $44.5 billion in the first quarter. “The strong balance sheet and the increase in cash holdings of the Company have reduced the need to hold treasury shares,” Samsung said.
