Alexander Okere, BeninMembers of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State on Saturday trooped to their respective wards to elect their candidates in the rescheduled legislative primaries. Although the decision had earlier been rejected by the state working committee, it later bowed to pressure from the national secretariat of the party. Our correspondent, who monitored the primaries, observed that many of the party members voted by queuing behind the posters of their preferred aspirants. At Ward 4, in the Oredo Local Government Area of the state, party members were urged to display their membership cards to enable them to exercise their voting rights. In the Esan West Local Government Area, it was learnt that the primaries did not record a large turnout of members.
