Sir, Iain Martin (“Accept it, we’re done with the People’s Vote”, Feb 1) observes that the Brexit crisis has broken our political system, while summarily dismissing the most obvious democratic solution. Confirming the will of the people seems to me the least worst option. A democracy has a duty to allow people to change their minds before irreversible, damaging decisions are executed, especially when original votes were based on flawed campaigns and unrealistic manifestos. Instead, Mr Martin calls for those who are forced out of the EU against their will to do something “constructive” by advocating renewal and social reform. Brexiteers should have these plans in place already, rather than relying on those who didn’t want to leave.
