Here, Simone Biles of the United States hits the vault for the first and only time as a competitor in the very first routine of the women’s team event at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre on Tuesday night. I imagined that I would be in for a rather special night following Biles on the beam, floor exercise and uneven bars, so by gaining a position high in the Ariake Gymnastics Stadium long before the event started, this was exactly the frame I hoped to capture of the split second when Simone’s Games would begin.
