Right before she won gold on uneven bars at the 2019 U.S. championships, her father fell off a ladder and became paralyzed from the chest down. “His timing could not be better, as fans were seeking a new star in the post-Phelps era,” Delpy Neirotti says. Dressel likely has another Olympics run left as well: He will be 27 at his next Olympic Games. “They both came at a perfect time,” Delpy Neirotti says, adding, “It’s going to be advantageous for both of these stars in terms of commercial value.”
