Toll in Kashmir violence goes up to 78 as man dies from bullet injury


The body count in the current unrest in Kashmir rose to 78 on Sunday after a young man who was injured in alleged firing by security forces on August 5 in Budgan district, lost his life this morning. Doctors at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) said 23-year-old Javaid Ahmad was brought to the hospital with a bullet injury in his leg on August 5. Residents said that over 60 people were injured when security forces dispersed thousands of demonstrators in Karimabad who came out to protest the nocturnal raids . Two youths were killed on Saturday after security forces fired tear gas shells and pellets at various places in south Kashmir.
