Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge has got in an extraordinary war of words with a food writer after being forced to defend the sky high food prices at one of his pubs. ''Unpretentious", "proper pub", "for everyone to enjoy" "relaxed and accessible" Steak and chips £87, side of cabbage, £7.50, creme brûlée: £26.50. But Mr Kerridge - who owns a further five restaurants - defended himself saying food prices are high because he pays his staff a decent wage. Ryan Cooper added: 'I like Tom Kerridge. I'm sure Tom Kerridge has bills, rent, wages to pay for too.'
