A hardline Russian politician has said war between his country and Europe is "very likely". "For the first time since World War II, they have a base in the Baltics - something they hadn't had before." He added that it is not that Europe desires war, but rather that it is "not afraid" of it. "And that's the danger: they're not afraid to attack Russia and openly say they're preparing for war," he said. However, the true figure is likely to be much higher, with the BBC estimating that as many as 200,000 Ukrainians have been killed.
