Tornado, severe thunderstorm warnings end in Ottawa


Ottawa is no longer under a severe thunderstorm warning, Environment Canada says, after a storm moved through the region Monday evening. Ottawa Fire Services said on Twitter multiple power lines fell down on March Road between Huntmar Drive and Old Second Line Road in Kanata following the storm and a collision. As of around 6:30 p.m., 2,707 Hydro Ottawa clients were without power, many of whom in north Kanata. pic.twitter.com/uyTIajbJUv —@VeraEtchesEarlier on Monday, an emergency alert warning of a potential tornado in Ottawa was sent to cellphones in the region around 5:40 p.m. Environment Canada had previously issued a tornado warning for Petawawa, Pembroke and Cobden, Ont..Thunderstorm warnings for the Pontiac area of western Quebec as well as areas in and around Pembroke have also ended.
