Toroman is no stranger to Philippine basketball, having coached the first ever Gilas Pilipinas program composed mostly of amateur standouts and reinforced by Marcus Douthit, then the team's naturalized player. Toroman's revitalized Indonesia team will be spearheaded by Lester Prosper, who played for the San Miguel Beermen two years ago. He believes the Philippines, now being composed of younger, taller players, will be a force to reckon with in the coming competition. This young squad is extremely talented, athletic and hungry, especially with (Angelo) Kouame and (Kai) Sotto," added Toroman. "Lester is more experienced, but these two guys -- Kouame and Sotto -- are taller and younger," added Toroman.
