Toronto police to test changes to officer schedules, a move long disputed by board and union


It has been a thorny issue for years, long putting the police board and the officers’ union at loggerheads. The 41 Division pilot project eliminates the seven-day work week, a move made in response to an overwhelming demand in officer surveys. It’s “no secret that the shift schedule is owned by the board and the TPA,” Staff Sgt. The shift schedule pilot project will be evaluated throughout the year, and is likely the first of a handful of staffing experiments throughout the city.
