Kannur: With the Kannur airport all set to be commissioned next year, the tourism sector is betting big on tapping the potential of the place. "As per estimates, there are around 1,700 house boats in Alappuzha which has made the house boat tourism there almost saturated. "We want to present before the entrepreneurs the immense possibility that the North Malabar opens up before them. "Apart from destinations, there are many indigenous art forms like theyyam and kalarippayattu, as also the therapies like 'uzhichil', which needs to be promoted further to develop the tourism potential of north Malabar," he said. The TTDC is working on some detailed projects to promote tourism using various means and it is also working on the Thalassery heritage tourism circuit.
