How can fundamental Islam defeat fundamental Islam without Islamists abandoning Sharia law and everything they stand for? Only Muslims who claim to be moderate can defeat fundamental Islam and they will only do that when they realise the truth about Islam. By disassociating from fundamentalists, they are in fact, without realising it, innocently turning their backs on true Islam. The only way to achieve "a kinder, gentler Islam" would be to rewrite history and erase the 7th century.
