Sylhet divisional unit of Truck-Pickup-Covered van Owners-Workers' Oikkya Parishad Convener Golam Hadi Soyful announced to end the strike around 5:30pm after a meeting among various organizations of transport owners and workers. Soon after withdrawal of the strike, the road communications returned to normal in all the districts -- Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, and Habiganj -- of the division giving a relief to thousands of people. With a demand of reopening of stone quarries, the Owners-Workers' Oikkya Parishad called the strike in the division on Monday and enforced it since 6am on Tuesday, while other transport organizations expressed solidarity with them. The government has suspended the work of stone extraction from stone quarries to save the environment.
