A travel expert has revealed a common hotel booking scam he almost fell for, and exactly how you can avoid it. Robert Jackman had planned a trip to Dubai and found a hotel on Booking.com, he explained in The Telegraph. Just a few days after making the booking, the travel writer received an unsuspicious-looking message on WhatsApp from someone claiming to be the hotel manager. He was told there was a problem with his credit card details and received a link that began with 'booking.confirmstay.com' to resolve the issue. 'A reminder to report any suspicious payment messages and to avoid clicking on payment links is also included in the booking confirmation.
