TRAVERSE CITY— Northern Michigan restaurants and food producers are gaining international attention, with several local businesses featured in Eater magazine’s latest list of notable dining destinations around the world. AdvertisementOwner Eric Patterson said the region’s food culture is still defining itself. “Being right next to the lake and having this amazing landscape, it is just the most prime fruit growing and produce growing region,” Tyra said. “We’re getting natural cuisines that taste as they should,” Patterson said, noting the region’s increasing cultural diversity and its influence on the food scene. “Food is a medium to celebrate, to mourn, to get together, to be a community,” Patterson said.
