LeycoThe government’s debt ratio will remain manageable next year despite the Duterte administration’s higher borrowing plan, the Bureau of the Treasury said. Despite the increase, De Leon noted the total debt, as a percentage of the country’s economy or gross domestic product (GDP), will remain steady at 41.1 percent for 2019 and 2020. Year-on-year, the total debt obligation during the month also jumped 16 percent from P6.832 trillion. At end-May, domestic debt amounted to P5.256 trillion, higher by 1.0 percent compared with P5.205 trillion.
