The member of parliament from Khagrachhari district, Kujendra Lal Tripura, attended the celebrations as the chief guest. The program commenced with a lighting of candles and dances in which the people of the community took part, according to sources. Tring is known as a New Year festival of the indigenous people of Tripura and is observed every year on December 22. It is celebrated as per the Tipra Era calendar, which was started in 590 AD during the reign of Maharaja Jujarufa.
