TORONTO — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called a meeting with his Cabinet late Sunday after Canada and the U.S. made substantial progress in free trade talks. One of the officials said the discussions between Canada and the U.S. were ongoing, but progress was being made. 2 trading partner, was left out when the U.S. and Mexico reached an agreement last month to revamp the North American Free Trade Agreement. The Trump administration officially notified Congress of the U.S.-Mexico trade agreement on Aug. 31. U.S.-Canada talks bogged down earlier this month, and most trade analysts expected the Sept. 30 deadline to come and go without Canada being reinstated.
