A week after the assault, the House impeached Trump for inciting the insurrection, with 10 Republicans voting with every Democrat. Had he been convicted, the Senate almost certainly would have also voted to ban Trump from holding federal office ever again. Trump was speaking Tuesday to House Republicans assembled at the Kennedy Center, which Trump recently had renamed for himself.
