Although antigen tests for other diseases have existed for years, such tests for the novel coronavirus have been available only since May. ADIn Manchester, Vt., antigen tests manufactured by the company Quidel identified 65 patients at an urgent-care center as infected. State officials also have asked for clearer guidance from the federal government on the use of antigen tests. Several state health officials said they have repeatedly highlighted problems in those meetings.
