Chips imported for US data centres, start-ups, consumer applications outside data centres, civil industrial uses and public sector projects will be exempt.The administration has also ordered that China-bound chips produced in Taiwan be routed through the United States for third-party testing, making them subject to the new 25 per cent duty upon entry.Further measures targeting semiconductor imports may be considered in the coming months, the White House said, as Washington seeks to reshape global chip supply chains in favour of domestic production.
