Manmohan Singh New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has accused Narendra Modi of failing to understand the pain he caused people through his "disastrous" decisions on demonetisation and GST implementation, and said the trust reposed in him now lay shattered. He claims to understand Gujarat and the poor more than anybody else. Singh told a gathering of professionals and businessmen in Surat, held as part of the Congress election campaign, on Saturday. "Most of you trusted the Prime Minister and believed in the policy of demonetisation in the hope that your suffering would actually benefit India," he said. You extended this trust to the Prime Minister and his promise of achchhe din.
