Fox News announced on Monday morning that it had parted ways with its primetime host Tucker Carlson. Carlson, 53, was making between $15 million and $20 million a year hosting “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Fox News’ staple one-hour long nightly talk show, according to a person familiar with contract negotiations at Fox and other networks. The sudden announcement comes one week after Fox agreed to pay Dominion Voter Systems $787.5 million in a historic defamation settlement. Due in part to his hefty Fox News paychecks, Carlson likely has a nice cushion to fall back on. Outside of Fox News, Carlson cofounded the conservative news and opinion site, The Daily Caller, in 2010, prior to getting his own primetime show at the network.
