Tunisian president ousts government, freezes parliament


CAIRO – 26 July 2021: Tunisia's President Kais Saied has ousted Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi, frozen parliament and revoked all MPs' immunity in a shocking and sudden decisions, Sunday night. Demonstrators attacked several headquarters and offices of Ennahda party affiliated with Muslim Brotherhood and sat fire at most of it. The Tunisian army is currently stationed around the premises of in the interior ministry in the capital. Units were deployed in front of the parliament building, TV headquarters and other vital facilities. "I warn any who think of resorting to weapons… and whoever shoots a bullet, the armed forces will respond with bullets," he said.
