ISTANBUL—A Turkish official said authorities are investigating the disappearance of a veteran Saudi journalist, according to the country’s official news agency on Saturday. Holding pictures of missing Saudi writer Jamal Khashoggi, people gather in his support, near the Saudi Arabia consulate in Istanbul, Friday, Oct. 5. Anadolu said the Istanbul public prosecutor’s office began a probe into Khashoggi’s disappearance Tuesday, immediately after he went missing. The consulate insists the writer left its premises, contradicting Turkish officials who say they believe he is still there.
