Only in Tilton and Wards 5 and 6 in Laconia were fewer ballots cast than in 2012. The turnout was 70 percent in Ward 3, 67 percent in Wards 2 and 4, and 66 percent in Ward 5. In 2012, 8,127 of the 9,811, or nearly 83 percent, registered voters in the city went to the polls. According to the New Hampshire Secretary of State, there were 10,139 registered voters in the city as of Oct. 7. Election officials elsewhere in the county reported that significant numbers of voters registered at the polls.
